The Resume of Jesus Christ
So you want to serve the Lord?
You think you want to serve the Lord or somewhere in the church? … But where?… In what capacity? This is often a question I ask myself as I sit in church at a Sunday morning service. Yes, I hear the call from the Pastor at the pulpit. I hear it from the Deacon during announcements. I hear it during my prayers in the morning during my quiet-times. So what is the problem? Am I not ready?
You may be asking yourself the same questions, over and over again. Let me help you.
YOU ARE READY
Phew. Don’t you feel better now that you have an answer? You may be thinking that I don’t have all the facts or that I am rushing to a conclusion. But God moves in mysterious ways. He led you to this article didn’t He?
There is a book written by a man called Chuck Smith. He is the founder of Calvary Chapel. It’s called “Why Grace Changes Everything”. For me it is a mindset for serving Christ. It is a quick easy read. You don’t need a theology degree and can go through it in a few days. (I am no book-worm)
You can even download it for FREE right here in PDF format. How is that for convenient!
If after you read this book, and if your Spirit agrees with this servant’s attitude of grace, speak with your pastor or deacon about serving … you will be overjoyed that you did!
Blessings in Christ

God Knows Your Needs
I read this scripture today “. . . for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” Matthew 6:32
It reminds me how God knows everything that goes on in my life. Even the simple things. Last week when we were waiting for the gunite company to come for the pool. The weather report showed several days of strong thunderstorms approaching. My wife, kids and I started praying for God to place his hand over our area to divert the storms.
We went out and bought plastic tarps to cover the dirt side walls. We bought landscaping hose to divert the gutters just in case God allowed the rain to come. We were preparing for battle physically and spiritually.
As the days went on I saw the forecast drop from 60% to 30%. God started decreasing the chances of rain. Then two days before the gunite was to be blasted…after God held the rain back for the last week, a large storm started brewing. The rain forecast jumped to 80% and when we checked the radar map on weather.com we saw a large green/yellow/red area spanning all of north Texas coming down from Oklahoma.
My family went outside and prayed for God to again intervene. Hour by hour through the night every time a band of weather came our way it separated to the west or east of us. 4 bands of rain swept by – each time I saw the large area of rain pushing behind it – but every time it broke apart as it passed our home. We went rainless and was able to gunite with no problem. God even had the gunite company show up a day early…now in construction that alone is a miracle.
Even in this small event I felt it was important to go to God. We should be going to Him with all are needs. God is not to busy to listen to us and he wants us to converse with Him.
It says in Psalms 66:16-20
16 Come and hear, all you who fear God,
And I will declare what He has done for my soul.
17 I cried to Him with my mouth,
And He was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart,
The Lord will not hear.
19 But certainly God has heard me;
He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God,
Who has not turned away my prayer,
Nor His mercy from me!
God hears our prayers and does not turn away. Speak to God today. Tell Him what is going on in your life – He wants to love and keep you.
Blessings in the Lord.
